Natural entertainment

Whether it’s a casual hike by the scenic gristmill in McConnells Mill State Park or the excitement of a fireworks show that draws international competitors, the neighborhoods surrounding the Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport offer an array of fun activities for people who love to be outdoors. Saxonburg, just 8.5 miles southeast of the airport, boasts the largest Fireman’s Parade east of the Mississippi every summer. And practically in walking distance of the runway, the Audubon Society maintains the picturesque Succop Nature Park.

History

jeepNot only is Butler County proud birthplace to the Bantam Jeep,  but the annual fest to  celebrate that heritage, the  Bantam Jeep Festival, has set the Guiness World Record for the Largest Jeep Parade.

Activities, including  off-road trails, playground with obstacles and a Jeep History exhibit, are the second week of June at Coopers Lake Campground, 20 miles from the Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport.
