Event Requests

GUIDELINES for Possible Events at Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport

Requests for events to be held at the Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport will be reviewed on a case by case basis with the following considerations in mind.

Procedures for application:

A request in writing must be submitted to the Butler County Airport Authority for Board approval at least 180 days in advance (as the Bureau Of Aviation requires 90 days-notice) that must include:

  • Type of event
  • Purpose of the event
  • Sponsor of the event
  • Date and time of the event
  • Area of the property to be used
  • Anticipated number of people attending
  • Types of utilities required
  • Security plan
  • Set up and tear down times
  • Ability to insure
  • Plan for weather interruption

Considerations for approval after application is received:

  1. Is it aeronautical related? Aeronautical is defined by Merriam-Webster as “a science dealing with the operation of aircraft or the art or science of flight.”
  2. Non-aeronautical use for consideration of the BOA:
    1. Must be nonprofit of a general pubic type of entity/open to all
    2. Must need to be held at an airport, KBTP
    3. Must materially benefit BCAA or its mission
  3. Does it benefit BCAA?
  4. Does it benefit the community?
  5. Is the request from a tenant?
  6. Will it interrupt airport operations?
  7. Will it interrupt our tenants?
  8. What are the potential costs/liabilities to the airport?
  9. Will it set a precedent?
  10. Will it show favoritism, real or perceived?
  11. Is staff participation (presence/overtime) required?
